Yeah..some time has passed now and we're deep in an outsourcing project (dough!), so we only have time to do high level planning and designing (that involves a lot interaction with people through forums, to get their general opinion and suggestions), and some tweaking here and there...the first part of training will definitely be the one i described, that involves rail guided vehicle, and about next I still have to make up my mind and try to incorporate all good suggestions that people had put in front of me here...and it's quite a difficult task...anyway, thanks for the kind words, hope that you will continue to take part in development of FoF...

regarding the controls, i vote for the hard to learn, difficult to master, but people say that "easy to learn, difficult to master" is the best way. screw them, as long as it has the "difficult to master" part, i don't care
(yes, i know, i'm late so it's already irrelevant, i just wanted to express my opinion)
as to main character's name, what about Flut? it sounds like it has something to do with flying/floating, and at the same time, it's (to me) kinda creaturish, compatible with the style of the character itself.
