I have been brainstorming and plotting out the way this game would work for over three years now, I have an entire notebook filled with plans and plots for this.
I know that there is probably no way in heck I could ever get it made but here is the general idea.
Combine Almost every Online RPG with Kingdom Hearts, Fable, Morrowind and FFX and you have Generally what my idea is.
It would have a very advanced character creation system to make it highly unlikely that you would see another character that looked similar to you.
The general fighting style will be like Kingdom Hearts Hack and Slash with jumping and all that. What you do determins your fate, as in Fable.
There are three camera modes, First Person, Third Person and Birds eye view.
It's not just a medival style fantasy either, it has guns and such...
The world would actually be an orb, a massive planet that one could travel all the way around. It would be constructed of grids that are made of smaller grids, which would, I assume lower loading time.
Players would have to have broadband to play, though.
There would be many different veicals, air ships, boats, car-like things, trains, etc...
There would be a system for claiming land and building your own house -sims style. Other people could even go into yuor house and all. Alsio, you can break into other people's houses and steal thier stuff, there are ways, of course, to prevent this.
anyway... there is a very very shortened version of my ideas..
I just wanted to know what you guys think about it...if it were made would you play it, etc...

No, I would not play. Endor was boring and nothing ever happened, if it wasn't for the Ewoks then it would have been even worse.

Take the best parts of the best games ever made, and even those of games that havn't come out yet? Great idea, even though it is not yours...
At any rate, it will never be more than that, just an idea. Several companies have spent more money that I will ever see on large numbers of highly skilled workers to develop these games, and you plan to take the best of them all armed with a notebook?
I hate to be harsh, but you need to step back and look at what you are suggesting.
As an experienced developer, I suggest you start smaller, and not just a bit, I mean a LOT smaller. Have you mastered the ability to make a game on the level of Tetris? It is harder than you think. Dont talk of swimming the ocean if you have never been in water above your head.
That said, we have all had dreams like yours. Always keep something like that in the back of your mind. Let that be your drive to learn more.

, I suggest you start smaller
Smaller than a Ewok?

Oh yes, have you ever tried to wrestle an Ewok? They may be shorter than you, but even their young are faster and stronger than you. Wrestling an earthworm is much easier.

But Ewoks are so cute! I can't belive you're saying this.
nomadrock at October 4th, 2004 03:28 — #7
That is their other advantage, and also what has made them an protected species. If someone catches you wrestling an earthworm, no one bothers to ask, but if you are caught wrestling an Ewok, well you had better hope it doesnt break a nail, or you are in big trouble. It's almost as bad as building a house for dolphins made out of netting.

Thanks man. I'll never watch StarWars again with the same naive disalusionment, now I know what the knieving buggers are up to.

Faolan: What would the story for the game be like? you are talking about mixing very small features from some popular games, and calling it your own, well, a lot of games share the same combat styles, and cameras, but it is the story and how the story is played that makes the game worth playing.
