Hello. I would first like to say I am new to devnasters and I am somewhat new to programming and I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me. I am 17 years old and I am taking a programming class at my high school the only problem is, is my teacher is bad at teaching. Instead of teaching us he pretty much does our work for us. Does anyone have a good starting point for me or know any good books that can heelp? Thank you in advanced.
Ahh, poor-quality high school programming classes - a common problem! Fortunately, programming is something you can do completely on your own, as you don't need any equipment other than a computer, and all the software / information you need can be had for free on the internet.
For people just starting out I usually recommend learning Python. It's a particularly simple and easy-to-learn language, but is also a real programming language that many professionals use in their daily work, so it is absolutely worth learning. A good resource for learning it is this free online book. The key to getting the most out of books like this is to make sure you do the exercises. Learning programming requires practice to get your brain to absorb all the information and make connections; it's not enough to just read the book. Good luck!
Thank you Reed for the reply. I will start with python and if I have any questions I will come back to the forums to find my answers about python.
I was wondering if anyone can help me by walking me through on how to create a directory in the windows powershell and how to switch between directories in the windows poershell.
