I have visited the open-school day at NHTV in Breda, The Netherlands, and after visiting the Game Programmer presentation I decided to try the 'tutorial' on the website, as they had it written down on the schoolboard.
Even though I am not able to apply for this school yet because I'm in pre-graduation class, I would like to try to take (http://devmaster.net/posts/introduction-to-c-with-game-development-part-1-intro)]this C++ course so I can atleast code something already before I am going to apply.
After going through the first 2 parts, I did run into a 'outdated' file, as read on the internet.
The "Part 2" of the tutorial tells me to download a file (Which is a template), but after downloading this file, I'm unable to build it. It keeps giving me "Can't find %path to file%/Template.exe", and as I've read on the internet, it's because I have Visual Studio 2010 while this template was written for 2007. I don't know if this is true, but I've tried to do some fixes I found on Google, which didn't work at all. It would be a little demotivating if the tutorial would be unable to use for me because I have Visual Studio 2010.
Is there any solution for me to solve this problem? I have no experience with C++ at all, so I don't have any clue how I could edit the files so they'd actually run.
