My question is not directly about game development but I think you might have a lot of knowledge that could help me.
I'm searching for a 3d component or engine to be used in our software. The component would be used in creating different visualizations. Also the user of the software should be able to interact with the view and possibly move the items in the world.
The development environment is C++ with .NET. The component should be such that it could be embedded to a WinForms form. So the 3d window would be just one window among others, the whole program is not inside the 3d.
We would like focus on developing the content on top of the engine. So I think we are searching more for a high level engine without the need to know much about all the details needed to make 3d perform well. Of course possibility to tweak also the minor details if the need arises is not a bad thing.
The component would be used in a final product so it should be in a stable development phase. Also the development and support of the component should be active (quite naturally). We would also be interested in supporting the development of the component. We would be ready to pay for features we would need in the future. So this kind of sponsoring possibilities would be a benefit in the component development.
Greatly appreciate all recommendations or pointers to more resources! Thanks!

Quest3dis developed in C++ and has an SDK where you can easily integrate all your new functionality. It is fast and productive and developed for 10 years and fully stable, community is great.
Where it seems Quest3d is not the favourite tools for game making, for what you are speaking about seems an insteresting option.
