According to the Valve employee handbook "Hiring well is one of the most important things in the universe, nothing else comes close." Assertions like that are what motivated this study to exist. There has been little research on the best methods of selection for candidates seeking work within the industry; this study will attempt to gather data on what data firms are collecting from potential candidates. Researchers at Full Sail University are asking that any professional that has taken part in the hiring process at development studios, publishers and indie game companies take the time to fill out a short survey that will gather data on their experiences in the hiring process. This data could help develop employee selection practices tailored for Video Game Industry candidates.
Please follow the link to take the survey at the reputable and safe website, surveymonkey.com. Thank you for your valuable time and interest in broadening and strengthening the talent within this industry.

I took your survey. I just wanted to note that one of the questions surprised me a little bit: you asked whether candidates' marital status is taken into account in the hiring process. In many US states/cities that's actually illegal, I believe - marital status is often a protected class along with race, sex, religion, etc.

You are correct. But because it is not fully protected in all areas I decided to keep the question. Thank you very much for participating.
